Top of the Lake: TV Review

Reviews

Jane Campion has excelled with Top of the Lake. Confronting, emotionally brutal, but restrained. Elizabeth Moss’ Kiwi accent may be flawed, but she plays a solid lead. Peter Mullan plays a brilliantly menacing Matt Mitchum, whilst David Wenham puts in a stellar stoney performance as Al (the chief detective). In fact, the entire cast was wonderful. Adam Arkapaw, the cinematographer, has meticulously captured the stoic New Zealand landscape.

Probably the best television this year, certainly so far.
